Super Pac-Man Pinball is a cancelled Nintendo DS game, planned for release in late 2005. It was intended to be the sequel to Pac-Man Pinball Advance.

Overview[]

Super Pac-Man Pinball was to be developed by Rubik Interactive (later known as Zen Studios); a company specialized in developing pinball-based video games. The title was reported on by IGN on May 9th, 2005[1] - oddly, this was seemingly the same day as Pinball Advance's retail release date. Only three days later, however, a follow-up report stated that the game was canceled.[2] The game was also shown in the June 2005 issue of Nintendo Power.[3] The reasoning for the game's cancellation is unknown, or why it was of such short notice to the press.

According to IGN's initial report, Super Pac-Man Pinball featured three playable "characters": Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and a seemingly-new "Paconius Maximus". The game was also to feature an "arch-nemesis" to Pac-Man named "Pac-Monocle". It was going to include three multiplayer modes, and several single-player minigames that utilized the Nintendo DS microphone.[1] The Nintendo Power article adds that the game's location was in the "city of Paclantis", and featured touchscreen controls. Ghosts could emerge from the top screen to the bottom, who would "meddle with [the player's] game".[3]

Trivia[]

  • The logo for Pac-Man Pinball Advance appears in the packaging of the Namco E3 2005 press kit; however, the game was not present at the show, or was detailed in the rest of the kit at all.
